Every few days I check the Google Analytics for Peculiar Girl. Google Analytics is a software program that allows me to track my site statistics, such as how many visits Peculiar Girl gets each day, which posts are the most popular, and how visitors are finding my blog.
My favorite statistics to analyze are the keywords. I find it fascinating to see what people are searching for that leads them to my blog. It’s encouraging to see searches like “peculiar girl blog” and “cheryl breuer blog” because that tells me people are specifically looking for my writing.
Other searches, however, bring people to my blog by accident. Some examples are “armpit hair ashamed,” which brought someone to this post, “vegan staple food,” which leads people here, and “why do men call women bitches” (Why, indeed?), which helped a reader find my piece titled “I am nobody’s bitch.” I hope they found my content helpful.
Sometimes, the keywords are disturbing. Take, for instance, “piqulier abnormal vagina of girl picture.” Um, what?
Other keyword searches are confusing. What was it, I wonder, that whoever searched “what was the animal that became the animal that became man” was hoping to find?
Then, a few days ago, reviewing my Peculiar Girl analytics, and I found this keyword search and smiled:
“pictures of 4th toe smaller than pinky”
Someone else out there shares my mutant toe! I wonder if it’s a long-lost relative?
In case you missed it, in April I published a light-hearted post called 25 Things, a list of random facts about me. Number 21 reads, “On my left foot, my fourth toe is shorter than my pinky toe.”
To whomever did the searching, I hope you weren’t too disappointed that there was no picture to accompany the disclosure of my toe anomaly. Whoever you are, in case you continue your quest, I present…a picture of my mutant toe:
Only I must apologize, anonymous searcher, because it’s actually my third toe that is shorter than my pinky toe. I should have taken off my shoe to verify before I wrote that post in April.
It’s funny I could forget something like that. I used to be so embarrassed about my tiny toe. Now I couldn’t care less. It’s just one more thing that makes me peculiar, and I love that about me.

Fabulous! Maybe someone out there will feel validated by your quirk-sharing. When I was younger, I was shamed to tears over so many perceived imperfections— I think talking about these things can help us all feel better. Go Cheryl!
your tiny middle toe is cute
don’t be embarrassed, flaunt your uniqueness!!
